These membranes act as a buffer between the floor’s subfloor (concrete, plywood, etc.) and the finished floor covering. When properly installed, they minimise the potential for cracking due to structural movement or thermal expansion.

How does it work? An anti-fracture membrane works by absorbing and dispersing the stresses caused by substrate movement, preventing them from reaching the finished floor surface. When the subfloor experiences expansion, contraction, or settlement — whether due to temperature changes, moisture fluctuations, or structural shifts — the membrane flexes and stretches to accommodate these movements.   1. Subfloor Type

    Different membranes work better with specific subfloor materials. Make sure to choose a membrane compatible with your substrate — whether it's concrete, plywood, or another material. Liquid membranes are highly versatile and adhere well to a wide range of substrates as they’re formulated with special bonding chemicals, which makes them an excellent choice for most subfloor types.

  2. Thickness

    If your substrate is heavily damaged or has larger cracks, a thicker membrane may be needed to provide sufficient protection.
