Liquid Membrane™ is a versatile waterproofing solution that can be applied to various surfaces to create a durable and flexible barrier against water damage. Whether you're working on balconies, showers, tiles, or wood, liquid membrane provides a seamless protective layer that prevents leaks and cracks — ultimately extending the lifespan of your materials. Let’s explore our liquid membrane’s multi-purpose functions and the many surfaces it can waterproof.
One Product, Multiple Functions.
Liquid membranes function similarly to waterproof paint, forming a continuous watertight coating when applied. Our innovative water-based formulation cures into a flexible yet strong layer, and can be used in multiple ways.
- Prep – Apply it onto a substrate prior to surfacing with other materials such as tiles, to reduce crack transmission (with 1300% elongation!) as well as waterproofing.
- Bridge – Seal cracks up to 6mm, stopping leaks and preventing further damage in future.
- Coat – Use it as a waterproof top coat to shield a finished surface such as timber decking or concrete (in 8 different colours, including semi-clear).
5 Common Waterproofing Applications of Liquid Membrane
1. Balconies and Facades
Outdoor areas such as balconies, terraces, and building facades are exposed to rain, UV, and temperature changes, making them prone to damage. Liquid Membrane™ provides an effective waterproofing solution by preventing water penetration and protecting the underlying structure from deterioration, as well as being UV stable (unlike other formulas) and boasting 1300% elongation to reduce crack transmission in extreme temperatures.

2. Showers and Bathrooms
Bathrooms are one of the most moisture-prone areas in any building, due to constant water and humidity exposure. Applying a liquid waterproofing membrane before tiling and rendering, or even onto existing tile grout, prevents leaks and mould growth.
3. Wood Surfaces
Wood is highly susceptible to moisture damage, leading to warping, rotting, or mould growth. Liquid Membrane™ is a flexible waterproof layer that is suitable for use on wood. Some of the ways customers have used Liquid Membrane™ to waterproof and strengthen wood:
- Protect plywood boards on an interior shed rooftop from moisture.
- Apply over reinforcement fabric on a timber substrate, to prevent movement transferring up into a finish layer of microcement.
- Coat a timber boat deck.
4. Roofs and Gutters
Flat and sloped roofs benefit from a liquid membrane as it forms a seamless, weather-resistant layer. It’s ideal for repairing leaks or providing additional waterproofing on new roofs.
5. Basements and Foundations
Basements are prone to water infiltration from the surrounding soil, while building foundations must withstand hydrostatic pressure, shifting soil conditions, and potential cracks that can allow moisture to seep in. Proper waterproofing and stabilising protection is essential for the structural integrity of the building.
